Extra-Curricular Support

After-School Clubs

Our after-school clubs (ASCs) are there to promote enjoyment in sport and exercise through football and physical activity. We want children, regardless of their abilities, to keep active and increase their enjoyment in sport. Our hope is that they continue to engage in sports and lead an active lifestyle after they have attended our clubs, even if that’s not necessarily within football.

Our after-school clubs provide children with the opportunity to develop their coordination, fitness, and footballing abilities, but our focus extends beyond technical skill. While we do occasionally identify children with standout potential, our emphasis is always on enjoyment, participation, and inclusion. In cases where children demonstrate exceptional ability, we ensure that appropriate challenges are introduced to help them continue to grow.

This year, we have delivered after-school clubs at nine different local primary schools, five schools more than last year, demonstrating our progress. We are grateful to have worked with these fantastic schools, and want to thank them, and their students for their fantastic engagement. We have worked with 292 different children this academic year at our after school clubs, a 24% increase when compared to the previous academic year. Many of these have attended more than one club this year; demonstrating the positive experiences they are having.

Our attendance is on the up too, with an average attendance of 93% this academic year, up 5% on last year. We always seek feedback from the attending children, and at the end of our Spring term, we carried out an individual tracking survey to measure our impact. 93 of 111 children in the spring term took part, and our results were pleasing. It was encouraging to hear that the majority of children intend to continue playing sports beyond the after school club (85% Yes or Maybe). Additionally, our enjoyment rates are high, and children found that they had improved their football skills in their time with us, with 88% indicating a positive effect.

In the 2025-26 Academic Year we will be delivering after-school clubs in the following schools:

  • Park Primary School
  • The Cambridge Primary School
  • Waverley Abbey Junior School
  • Lightwater Village School
  • Potley Hill Primary School
  • Dogmersfield Primary School
  • Wellington Community Primary School
  • Talavera Junior School
  • Ash Grange Nursery and Primary School
  • Marlborough County Infants School

Curricular Support

Lunch Clubs

From September, we will providing several lunch clubs per week in primary schools in the local area. The purpose of these lunch clubs is to promote physical activity and encourage children to move for the recommended 60 minutes per day.

Our lunch clubs help schools achieve their sports goals by providing additional opportunities outside of curriculum provision, and helping give structure to their lunch time sports.

PE Delivery

The Shots Foundation also provide curriculum-aligned PE lessons within local primary schools during the school day, whether that is through CPD to provide teachers with more confidence and understanding in teaching sport, or for PPA cover, giving teachers more time to tackle their planning. These lessons are across multiple sports, we’re not just limited to football.

Our coaches who undertake this bespoke delivery have a minimum UEFA C qualification and good experience with curriculum delivery. Through this, we help schools provide a highest standard of coaching for their students.
