Veterans Trip to Royal Hospital Chelsea
Veterans Trip to Royal Hospital Chelsea
We were honoured to visit Royal Hospital Chelsea with a group of our local military veterans last week. A group of us set off from the EBB Stadium in the morning, looking forward to the day ahead. When we arrived, we were greeted by the fantastic Chelsea Pensioners and taken on a fascinating tour of the historic grounds, which included their beautiful chapel, dining room and more. The Chelsea Pensioners are retired British Army veterans who live at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London. They come from various backgrounds across the United Kingdom, and their home at the hospital is an historic institution dedicated to providing care, camaraderie, and support to those who have served our nation.
After the tour, we returned to the café where we were treated to some tea, coffee, and biscuits whilst chatting with other in-pensioners and the Veterans Outreach team at Royal Hospital Chelsea. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at Royal Hospital Chelsea, namely our tour guide Mike Vowles, and members of the Veterans Outreach team, Jonathan Lowe and Greta Kendall. Our visit came after us welcoming the Chelsea Pensioners choir to the EBB Stadium back in May of this year in a special Veterans Hub. We must also extend a massive thank you to Charters Group for their continuous support, without them we cannot put on these wonderful experiences for our Veterans.
If you’re a military veteran and are interested in how we can support you, get in touch with jamie.macallister@shotsfoundation.org or click here. We remain committed to supporting our armed forces community. We look forward to our next Veterans Hub on Wednesday 27th August.
