Andy Pusey’s Marathon in aid of the Shots Foundation!

We’re pleased to announce that Andy Pusey is running a marathon in October raising funds for us here at the Shots Foundation! Andy’s making his way to Budapest as he completes his 16th marathon in 10 years! Andy is the son of former club chaplain Mike Pusey who passed away in 2024, and has been subsequently honoured by having the Community Stand named after him at the EBB Stadium.

Andy Pusey on why he’s raising funds for the Shots Foundation:

“I don’t think I need much of an introduction as my family name is well known at the football club, due to my Dad being the club chaplain for 50 years up to his passing on his 90th birthday in August 2024. At the time much was written about what he had given to the club with his time, energy and love for everything associated with this special football club.

It was on my 5th birthday that my Dad brought me to my first game at The Rec, a 0-0 draw against Notts County, but it didn’t put us off, as it became a regular event of spending time together as the years went past, until I hit my teenage years and then I moved from sitting in the North Stand with Dad and his friends to standing on the East Bank with my own friends.

Many years later, despite first moving to North London for work and then via Kettering, St. Albans and back to South London, I have now ended up in the Peak District near Buxton, I have continued to follow and support The Shots and visit many different grounds over the years wearing the red and blue with pride.

So when Dad passed away last year and then had the Community Stand at the ground named in his honour, I thought I would also do something to honour his name and love for the club, especially after the success of last season and the dream that we both discussed many times, of watching Aldershot play at Wembley. He would have loved that and I am sure was watching down from the best seat in the house!

I am planning to run the Budapest Marathon on Sunday 12th October and want to raise as much funds as I can for the Shots Foundation. I hope you can encourage my training in the coming weeks and also get to know the great work that the Shots Foundation does for many people around the local area of Aldershot.”

For those who don’t know, the Shots Foundation is the club’s affiliated charity (registered number 1172414), and a separate legal entity from the club. They carry out several local community projects and initiatives with the aim of helping the members of our community. Shots Foundation Chair of Trustees, Sir John Casey is really grateful for Andy’s support and says “We’re honoured that Andy has decided to raise funds for us at the Shots Foundation through the Budapest marathon. We can see how much Andy cares about our community, just like his Dad. We wish Andy the best of luck in his marathon and thank him for his support.”
